Certificate IV, Diploma & Advanced Diploma of Project Management
Nominal Days: Workplace Assessment
Program Area: Project Management National Qualification & Award Programmes

OVERVIEW

Project management is experiencing unprecedented growth and recognition as a profession. A consequence of this growth is increased reliance upon project management and the need to professionally recognise project management capability. As companies increasingly integrate project management into their businesses, the demand for qualified practitioners increases globally.

The PM-Partners group Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma Skills Recognition Program is designed to provide project practitioners with the opportunity to prove their capability through their project work; and to have their existing competencies recognised by attaining a formal, nationally recognised qualification.

 THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR
  • Candidates who have gained appropriate levels of competence through previous studies, work and life experiences; and possibly through participation in PM-Partners group Project Management Education Programs.
  • Candidates undertaking PMI®, CAPM® or PMP® studies are ideally placed to undertake formal assessment against the national project management competency standards.
 OBJECTIVE

Using the competencies from the National Project Management Competency Standards within the BSB07 Business Services Training Package, the program consists of an assessment process that enables candidates to demonstrate competency in a logical, orderly and user friendly manner.

Each unit of competency addresses a particular project management function and includes schedule management, cost management, quality management, human resources management, communications, procurement and risk management, all in the context of projects and programs.

Each qualification has a competency-based award and consequently the PM-Partners group program focuses upon recognising competencies acquired over time via a formal Skills Recognition process as set out by the Australian Qualifications Framework.

PM-Partners group are registered AIPM Assessors and recognised as a Project Managed Organisation by the Australian Institute Of Project Management.

PM-Partners group is a Global PMI® (Project Management Institute) Registered Education Provider.

Candidates who have been awarded the Project Management Professional Certification (PMP®) by the Project Management Institute are eligible to earn Professional Development Units (PDUs) for their participation in this program. See individual program outlines below for redeemable PDU value.

HOW IT WORKS
SKILLS RECOGNITION

Skills Recognition is an assessment process that formally recognises the competencies (skills, knowledge and abilities) that a person has acquired through formal or informal learning, work experience and / or life experience.

Skills Recognition incorporates two assessment approaches:
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a candidate may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.
  • Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) is a process similar to RPL which is based on the formal recognition of skills, knowledge and abilities currently held and able to be demonstrated by the person.
Candidates who have gained appropriate levels of competence through previous studies, work and life experiences are eligible to have their competence assessed against the standard and recognised towards the qualification.
THE PROCESS

The following process has been proven through its use in many industry sectors to be straightforward and user friendly.  Support from PM-Partners group staff is available to candidates throughout the program.

To obtain the qualification, candidates must compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competence.  This will involve the following:
  1. Enrolment in the PM-Partners group Skills Recognition Program - A senior assessor will help you determine the appropriate level of entry to the Skills Recognition process (Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma).
  2. Attendance at a Project Management Skills Recognition briefing session where you will be guided through self-assessment, assessment requirements, examples of evidence, requirements for the compilation of a portfolio and completing the application.
  3. Completion of a portfolio of work-based evidence against the assessment criteria in the Skills Recognition Manual, with support from PM-Partners group.
  4. Participation in an assessment interview to present the compiled evidence and discuss the application of project management competencies within the workplace with the assessor.
  5. Completion of the process within six months of enrolling in the program.
  6. During this process PM-Partners group will advise you of any additional evidence required, or gaps that need to be addressed through coaching, education or demonstration of experience.
