Recent updates have driven some changes to two of the project management certification courses run by the PM-Partners group. Details of these changes are outlined below: PMP®The Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential examination was updated 31 August 2011 and is based on updates to the professional role of a PMP® recently found in PMI’s Role Delineation Study (RDS). As a result of the RDS, certain areas of the examination will be tested in a different way because an existing domain was seen to be common across all content areas of the examination. Specifically, the Professional and Social Responsibility content area (Domain 6) will now be tested in every domain rather than as a separate domain on the examination. Project managers preparing to take the exam after 31 August 2011 should be aware that approximately 30% of the PMP exam will change. However, education and experience eligibility requirements for the PMP credential will not alter. MSP®The latest edition of Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®), released 30 August 2011, is an interim revision, not a major refresh that centres around re-wording, not re-formulation of the method. Updates are focused on three key elements:
The PM-Partners group will transition to the 2011 edition of the programme from 1 January 2012. This will mean that any training workshops and examinations held from this date forward will be based on the 2011 edition and ensure that the new examinations are bedded down accordingly. The 2007 edition examinations will still be available until March 2012 which will allow a smooth transition to the new edition.
