The objectives of the Practitioner course are to:
- Apply the PRINCE2 principles

Please note that the Practitioner course is an examination preparation course and focuses on the application of PRINCE2 to prepare candidates for the Practitioner examination.
The courses explore the following content with the Foundation level focusing on the theory, whilst Practitioner considers the application of the method:
Key concepts of projects and PRINCE2
Definition of a project. What makes a project a PRINCE2 project? Features and benefits of PRINCE2. The customer/supplier context.
Understanding and analysis of the PRINCE2 principles. Explain which aspects of a project can be tailored, who is responsible and how tailoring decisions are made.
Understand the PRINCE2 themes and how they are applied throughout the project, including business case, organization, quality, plans, risk, change and progress.
Understand the PRINCE2 processes and how they are carried out throughout the project. Explain the purpose, objectives and context of the PRINCE2 processes. Apply and tailor relevant aspects of PRINCE2 in context.
How this course is delivered
Trainers of this course will use a practical delivery approach to provide participants with a ‘hands-on’, multi-faceted and challenging learning experience. Understanding and recall techniques will be used to provide participants with a solid comprehension of PRINCE2.
Courses are facilitated by our expert team and can be conducted onsite, at our premises or virtually. All courses can be customised to suit your requirements.
Weekend courses: These are conducted over two full weekends.
Materials: A comprehensive participant handbook is provided for the Foundation course.
A participant handbook and the Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2 6th Edition publication are provided to Practitioner participants.
Outcomes and Certification Eligibility
Foundation includes the PRINCE2 Foundation Exam (which is taken after the course). The exam is:
- 60 minutes online proctored exam
- 60 questions
- Pass mark is 33 out of 60 (55%)
- Multiple-choice format
- Closed book exam
Online proctored exam taken after the course. On completion of the Foundation virtual training, you will receive an invitation to book your Foundation exam. You have 6 months to sit the exam online. Please check availability when making your booking.
Practitioner includes the PRINCE2 Practitioner Exam (which is taken after the course). Please note, a Foundation pass is a prerequisite to sitting the Practitioner exam.
The exam is:
- 150 minutes (2.5 hours) online proctored exam
- 68 questions
- Pass mark is 38 out of 68 (55%)
- Multiple-choice format
- Open book (Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2 6th Edition publication permitted – no other materials permitted)
Online proctored exam taken after the course. On completion of the Practitioner virtual training, you will receive an invitation to book your Practitioner exam. You have 6 months to sit the exam online. Please check availability when making your booking.
Your PRINCE2 Practitioner certificate is valid for three years, at the end of which you will need to either resit the Practitioner exam OR you can maintain your certificate through AXELOS membership.

All candidates who pass the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam are eligible to claim one year’s My PRINCE2 Membership.
- Be project managers or team leaders or have been involved in a project environment
- Understand project terminology and concepts or have completed a project management fundamentals course
The Foundation course is NOT a project management fundamentals course and therefore does not cover the principles of project management.
To ensure your outcomes are achieved both courses require some pre-course preparation.
For the Foundation course, this will be sent out 2 weeks in advance of the course (or at time of booking if booking less than 2 weeks prior to course commencement). Expected pre-course Foundation preparation time: 1-2 hours.
Participants joining a PRINCE2 Practitioner course will be issued with pre-course work at the end of the Foundation course to ensure adequate preparation for the Practitioner examination.
Expected pre-course Practitioner preparation time: minimum 4 hours.

Your virtual classroom trainer has access to a variety of options to ensure effective communication and learning, both individually and as a group, including:
- Changing how webcams are viewed
- Screen sharing to display a document, presentation or other training content
- Changing the view to make an attendee the presenter
- Conducting polls and tests
- Splitting the classroom into small groups for activities
- Uploading materials
Collaboration and actively participating in a training session are essential. You can:
- Raise and submit questions/comments to the trainer or other attendees
- Use shared apps and drawing tools to collaborate with the whole group
- Participate in ‘breakout’ rooms for activities/small group discussions
- Share the trainer’s keyboard and mouse control
Note: Drawing tools, shared keyboard/mouse control and multi-monitor screen sharing are available on the installed desktop app only.
As virtual training is a very different experience to face-to-face training, each virtual session will be a maximum of 90 minutes (many sessions will be shorter), followed by a break. Your trainer will confirm the timings of breaks at the start of each day.
