Aligned with A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide) current research, and best practice industry standards, this course enables business analysts to effectively undertake their role and to gain an appreciation of the knowledge areas required for formal ECBA certification (Entry Level Certification in Business Analysis).

Workshop Objective

This course provides participants with the fundamental knowledge of the processes and disciplines that enable the delivery of objective requirements that add maximum value to an organisation.

By combining a practical and pragmatic approach to business analysis, aligned with industry standards, this course will provide participants with the opportunity to prepare for the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®) industry certification ECBA.

Utilising real-life scenarios develops participant’s skills, enabling them to put into practice tasks and techniques that allows them to gain general knowledge and practical experience.

  • Understand the role of the Business Analyst in the project lifecycle
  • Understand the core competencies of a successful business analyst
  • A Business Analysts glossary of terms
  • Becoming familiar with the types of requirements Business Analysts are responsible for capturing
  • Understand the difference between requirements and design

From Requirements to Design

  • Requirements Analysis and Design Definition

    • Understand techniques to verify and validate requirements
    • Understand how to define different design options
    • Understand how to evaluate different solution options for value
    • Case Study Part 3 – Building the Next Best Mobile Application
    • Participants will develop a series of models that represent requirements for their mobile application
    • Participants will consider capturing and documenting a variety of different solution

  • Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of how to ensure that value is sought when designing, delivering, implementing and maintaining a solution

Course Prerequisites

In order to derive the greatest benefit from participation in this workshop, participants should be working in a Business Analysis environment or planning to do so within the near future.
