Architect – OT/IT Infrastructure

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Architect to support a major rail maintenance and construction program.

This role will focus on leading the architecture, design, and integration of critical technology and infrastructure solutions across a large-scale operational rail environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end architecture and technical design across multiple infrastructure and technology workstreams within a complex rail program
  • Define and oversee architecture solutions across core infrastructure domains including:
    •  Networks
    • Servers and compute infrastructure
    • Cloud services (primarily Azure)
    • Network connectivity
    • Proxy environments
    • WiFi and WAN infrastructure
    • Identity, access, and security services
  • Provide architectural governance and technical direction across approximately 11 concurrent workstreams
  • Work closely with Project Managers, technical delivery teams, vendors, and operational stakeholders to ensure aligned and scalable solutions
  • Support integration between IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments within maintenance plants and operational rail facilities
  • Ensure architecture alignment across infrastructure, security, operational resilience, and enterprise connectivity streams
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps, solution standards, and architecture documentation

Ideal Background

  • Strong Infrastructure / Enterprise Architecture experience within large, complex environments
  • Previous experience within rail, transport, construction, utilities, or heavy industrial environments highly regarded
  • Exposure to both IT and OT environments preferred
  • Strong understanding of:
    •  Enterprise network infrastructure
    • Cloud platforms (ideally Azure)
    • Security, identity, and access management
    • Enterprise connectivity and integration solutions
  • Experience working across large-scale infrastructure and transformation programs
  • Ability to manage architectural dependencies across multiple concurrent workstreams
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
