Dr Elissa Farrow

Consultant and training facilitator

How long have you been a facilitator with PM-Partners?

I’ve been a part-time contract facilitator and occasional consultant with PM-Partners since 2014.

What is your specialty?

Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®), Management of Portfolios (MOP®), Portfolio, Project and Programme Offices (P3O®), Change Management, Managing Benefits™, PRINCE2® and PRINCE2 Agile®. I’m also AgileSHIFT® credentialed as well.

In addition to my training facilitation work, I’m a futurist and organisational adaptation specialist and I just completed my doctorate in organisations of the future and the implications of Artificial Intelligence on workplace operating models. So I’m known for my strategy facilitation, coaching and transformation skills.

Favourite place?

Beautiful Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island, Queensland), Quandamooka country. I’m a volunteer with the Point Lookout Surf Life Saving Club on the island.

Favourite meal?

Fresh prawns on the beach with a glass of wine or a barbeque cooked by my husband Richard on our old kettle Weber BBQ.

What do you love about your job as a facilitator?

Being inspired by the people who attend my classes and to inspire then in return. I also really enjoy the way each of the courses I deliver shifts to the power and experience of the group. As an extrovert, I love participatory processes.

What advice do you like to offer your students?

Believe in yourself, listen, ask questions and keep more than an economic approach in your decision making. Part of my doctoral research revealed the need for organisations and decision makers to broaden their prioritisation criteria and include the planet

If you weren’t doing what you do today, what other job would you have?

I love my work-life and have deliberately arranged my work world, so I have a mixture of experiences. Large group facilitation and conference presentations is something I enjoy, especially with international audiences, it would be great to do more of this. I am most satisfied when I am working on things that are purposeful and enriching to myself and others.

Name your favourite book, movie or TV show, and why?

I love getting lost in a good book and still enjoy picking up an older trilogy ‘Ancient Future’ by Tracy Harding. The books relate to a strong female character who time travelled to the past. It includes martial arts and esoteric philosophy, knights and ladies, shining ones, space travel, love and reincarnation.

Share something with us that not many people know about you

I’ve started an improvisation course, or theatre sports, and may have a go at performing on stage one day, if I’m game!
