We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a critical technology modernisation initiative within a global insurance organisation.
This role will oversee the delivery of an infrastructure uplift project supporting several core business applications. Much of the existing hardware environment has reached, or is approaching, end-of-life and is no longer supported. The objective is to transition these systems to a current, supported state while maintaining operational continuity.
About the Role
As Senior Project Manager, you will lead a complex infrastructure modernisation initiative focused on replacing legacy and unsupported hardware systems that sit beneath key enterprise applications.
The project is primarily focused on modernising infrastructure and maintaining operational stability, rather than delivering major functional changes to the applications themselves. The priority is ensuring the organisation can continue to operate critical systems while transitioning to supported, modern platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of a large-scale infrastructure modernisation project supporting core enterprise systems.
- Manage the transition of legacy and end-of-life hardware platforms to supported infrastructure environments.
- Ensure continuity and stability of critical applications throughout the transition (“keep the lights on”).
- Coordinate cross-functional delivery across infrastructure, application, and architecture teams.
- Replace unsupported or obsolete technical components with modern equivalents where required.
- Establish strong project governance, reporting, and risk management practices.
- Maintain clear project documentation and communication using Microsoft documentation and collaboration tools.
Key Focus Areas
- Infrastructure uplift and stabilisation
- Hardware lifecycle replacement
- Legacy system support and transition
- Operational resilience and continuity
- Structured project governance and delivery
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering large and complex technology or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure environments and hardware lifecycle management.
- Experience managing legacy platform modernisation or technology refresh initiatives.
- Ability to deliver projects where system stability and operational continuity are critical.
- Strong stakeholder management across technology teams and business functions.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and reporting skills.
